Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the timeframe for Carolina Wagyu to fill orders?

Individual cuts are kept in stock most of the time. Call us to verify if we have your preferred cut(s)! While we do our best to consistently have availability of larger quantities, time frames for half to whole cows can range from 6 to 12 months.

1. What makes Wagyu beef different from regular beef?

Wagyu beef is world-renowned for its intense, intricate marbling—the fine network of white fat distributed inside the muscle fibers rather than just around the edges. This high concentration of intramuscular fat melts at a remarkably low temperature, creating a buttery texture, exceptional tenderness, and a rich, melt-in-your-mouth flavor that conventional beef cannot match.

2. What is F1 Wagyu / Angus Cross?

An F1 Wagyu is the first-generation offspring of a Fullblood (100% purebred) Wagyu parent and an Angus parent (a 50/50 split). This cross combines the legendary, buttery marbling and tenderness of Wagyu with the robust, savory flavor profile of Angus. It offers an incredible gourmet experience that bridges the gap between traditional beef and purebred Wagyu.

3. How should I store my meat when it arrives?

  • If refrigerated: Place fresh or thawed cuts in the coldest part of your refrigerator immediately. Consume raw steaks and roasts within 3 to 5 days, and ground meat within 1 to 2 days.

  • If frozen: Transfer vacuum-sealed packages straight to your freezer. Properly sealed cuts will maintain peak quality for 6 to 12 months (3 to 4 months for ground meat).

4. What is the best way to thaw frozen Wagyu?

The best method is to transfer the vacuum-sealed package from the freezer to the refrigerator and let it thaw slowly overnight. If you need it sooner, submerge the sealed package in cold tap water, changing the water every 30 minutes. Never thaw Wagyu at room temperature or in the microwave, as this can compromise the delicate fats and texture.

5. Does Wagyu cook differently than regular beef?

Yes! Because of its high fat content and low melting point, Wagyu cooks significantly faster than conventional beef. To avoid overcooking and rendering out all that incredible flavor, we recommend removing it from the heat just slightly shy of your target temperature and letting it rest before slicing.

6. Where is your meat processed?

All livestock are processed exclusively in USDA-inspected facilities that adhere strictly to federal food safety guidelines, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and quality control.
